Dawn Leiro, our local mission coordinator, will be joining a team from Manna Global Ministries (www.mgm.mannadr.org) on a short-term mission trip to Haiti July 23-30th. She most likely will be working at a food program, a vacation bible school or possibly doing some construction work. The location the team will be at is Cap Haitien which is north of Port au Prince. Please email Dawn Leiro if you are interested in joining this team.

Holly Meyer is soon off to Colombia!

Holly has been accepted as a short term missionary with the Covenant Church. She will be serving in Colombia for two years starting in Fall 2010. Her work will focus on outreach to women and children, administration, and mission team coordination.

She grew up in the PCC middle school and high school youth groups, and her love of missions began on the high school youth group’s annual trip to Mexico. In college she has served in Ecuador, Bolivia, and Mexico. She will graduate from North Park University in Chicago, IL this May with a degree in Biblical Studies and Psychology. This summer she will be back in Redwood City working at Swim & Gym.

Holly would appreciate prayer for her last semester in college and for the many things still left to do before she leaves for Colombia. Please pray for the development of her sending team.

Congolese Church Leaders And Chinese Teenagers Coming To PCC

What
Serve Congolese church leaders and Chinese teenagers without leaving Redwood City!

When
May 24-June 30 – Congolese church (CEUM) leaders will be at PCC.
July 9-30 – Chinese students will be with us.

Details
There is hardly a more wonderful experience to diminish the size of the world than through a relationship with a new friend, a sister or brother, who resides in another country.  This summer we will host a group of Congolese church leaders in June, and a group of Chinese teenagers in July, children of house church pastors.  While the exterior purpose of the gatherings is for them to learn English, the deeper purpose is for you to know them and they to know you.  You can help n the following ways:

  • Host someone in your home.  Provide a bed, dinner, teach how to make American breakfasts, and give lots of love.  Talk, listen, and have fun.  Share the world with your family.
  • Join a hosting team – you don’t provide the room but you help the host with meals, entertainment, and help the visitor connect with PCC’rs.
  • Teach English in the class or tutor English one on one.
  • Take an individual or a group out for some local bay area fun.
  • Invite someone to dinner at your home or to your favorite restaurant.
  • Speak French or even Chinese?  We need translators!
  • Drive your car for bay area tours.
  • The Congolese will be studying in Santa Barbara June 13-19.  Consider helping drive.

If you would like to give money to help make this possible, consider joining Congo Partners.  Contact Clara Sharpless or she will contact you with information about this special group.
